Who says video games can’t teach people life skills. Apparently an 11 year-old girl pulled her parents from their overturned vehicle. Her motivation…. she played Grand Theft Auto and when cars flipped in the game, they soon exploded.

And in the latest attempt to topple World of Warcraft. 20th Century Fox has announced Buffy the Vampire Slayer MMORPG.

Came across this, found it interesting and wanted to share it:

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous ‘yes.

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else—the small stuff. ‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

‘Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children and grandchildren. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner.

Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first—the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.’

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’

The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.

The new cinematic for Wrath of the Lich King is out.. still no gnomes in any of them!  Arthas’ armor that he got the first time around in Northrend was cool as hell, this stuff is ever-so-much-more-so.

I guess that’s the new look of Frost Wyrms?  Verra nice.. verra nice.  I still think the Deathknights flying mount looks like it has the head of a huge undead chicken.  Mine will be named Foghorn.

Ok.. this one time.. go ahead.

Am I figuring this correctly? She has four (4) trinkets she can drop on heroic, right?  So there’s a 25% chance that one specific one will drop.. 0.25.  Now if we kill her 4 times the chance that the same damn trinket will drop every… single… time… would be .25^4?  Right?  That’s 0.0039 or 0.39% chance of that occuring?  Less than 4 in 1,000 chance.

That’s if we have only killed her four times.  If I forgot one and we killed her five times.. it’s 0.00097.. less than 1 in 10,000 chance.  Man are we lucky or what?!

Few changes on the website.  Updated to the newest Wordpress and I did it right this time.  Meaning I didn’t screw up any of the changes I had made customizing the theme, widgets I used.  The new version looks slicker on the dashboard and has some more user friendly aspects.  We are going to start using tags too for posts.  Feel free to give any post you have a tag or make a new one if it seems to fit and you think it will help people that might want to search for that to find your post again.  Not sure I’ll do away with categories all together in favor of only using tags.. but might.  We’ll see how it goes.

I wonder too if Pete is the only other person here besides me that has a Gravatar?  Cool little icon/avatar function used across the internet that you associate with an email address and can have show up on sites that use it (a lot.. I just got around to enabling it again here, it had been a while since I had them on).

Can be almost any picture you want.. a photo of yourself to any picture you want to show up to identify your comments to others on a great many websites.

You can upload it to the Gravatar website by browsing files on your computer and hitting the upload button, crop it right on the gravatar site too.  Any picture you find on the internet wether you save it to your computer and upload it or just tell it to use it from typing (or copy/pasting in) the address of it or make yourself can be used..  give it a shot.  Cool little thing you can do to throw yourself into the realm of the hip people.

John B… here’s a bit of code you can put into a macro that will show you your druid’s chance of being crit.  It will output just to your screen.. nobody else sees it.  If it’s zero or a negative number, you are immune to crits.. if it’s positive that’s the chance you have of being crit.

EDIT: here’s a link to the page with the uncritable script in it.. was messing up the formatting of my site.

Helpful if you are switching out gear and wanna quickly see if you are still crittable or not.

Official Blizzard poster says:

We’re pleased to announce a convenient upgrade to the way that mounts and vanity pets are handled in Wrath of the Lich King.

Players will be able to “learn” a mount or non-combat pet much like learning a spell, recipe, or new ability, and these creatures will then show up on a new Pet tab within the Character Info section of the interface. Players will be able to access and preview their learned mounts and vanity pets through this tab.

Once learned, the pet icon or mount icon will no longer appear in bag spaces or bank spaces. This inventory space will be made available once again for other adventuring needs. Pets can still be set to hotkeys by dragging them to the hotkey bar, much like any other spell or ability.

All I can say is … well.. I’m speechless.  Some of these new talents in WOTLK seem ridiculously overpowered.  One that sticks in my mind.. everytime anyone in your group gets a crit, (spell, heal, attack or ability), you get a 100% chance to get a combo point added to your target.  With everyone’s crit already between 30 and 35% for just our group, that’s insane.  Rogues won’t be able to use combo points fast enough.  Requiring 40 points in Subtlety it’s called Honor Among Thieves.  Stuff like this in the new talents is ridiculous.  Lots of classes have em too.  It is beta still, could change I guess.
