Author ArchiveMaybe I don’t know how dyslexia works, and I see you can get lemons out of melons but… What is Snolem? -K This gave me a flash back. Just wish it hadn’t. You might have to replace spring break with Axis & Allies and Tax breaks with frozen margaritas, but you get the idea. -Kevin I would like any suggestions to save money and maintain/increase performance. My main goal is to run WoW better. Harddrive 60@ I don’t need much space. I want reliablility, quiet speed and a great price. Monitor 160$ (Monitor went down to 150$ today so I went ahead and bought it) Video Card 135$ How many pipelines miniumum? They all seem to have good memory on them, what else do I need to look for? The specs listed on newegg say
My power supply seems to only have 1 6 pin and it is express or something. Maybe I misunderstand and the video card both plug into the motherboard? I found this EVGA 512-P3-N973-TR GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 The other one seemed to be more then I needed. This one only requireds the 1 6 pin power connections that my power supply has. I am open to suggestions though. CPU 168$ Duel core is all I need (wow doesn’t use more then that) the 45m (or whatever) is important for heat and energy use, is 3.0 speed the best for this price or is there a lesser one for a better price that performs simularly? Motherboard 97$ The above CPU says it can use DDR3, should I seped the extra to get a board that uses DDR3? Memory 45$ This is 4g of DDR2, would be around 90$ to move into DDR3 OS 99$ Vista blah… can’t imagine the ultimate version to be usefull to me. Combo case/PS 79$ is 550w enough? Mid-tower is going to be big enough for the video card? I tried to do some research but I would just get overwhelmed. Most of it has free shipping. Total is 866$. I don’t know if I need 4k ram but 45$ seemed good. I’ll be supprised if I picked the right motherboard and CPU and I just get overwhelmed on the video cards. Thanks for any help. -Kevin Here is a guide. I doubt it is the best, feel free to add to it. (more…) Tags: Obsidian Sanctum, SartharionI wanted to start reading up on the latest and greatest in building a computer. I imagine I am at least 6 months or more off of getting one, but with WoW having issues I need something to do. There was a website/forums that I used last time I built my computer and for the life of me I can’t recall it’s name. I think you turned me on to it Scott so I hope you know what I am talking about. I know you said you didn’t like helping people build a computer because you get jealous or whatnot so I’ll try not to bother you too much about it.
-K Tags: Computer, ForumsCame across this, found it interesting and wanted to share it: A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous ‘yes. The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. ‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else—the small stuff. ‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you. ‘Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children and grandchildren. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first—the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.’ One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’ The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend. The fan on it stopped working a few months ago so I am fairly confident that is the source of her crashing. I don’t have another pci express to test it for sure. I bought it 4-5-07 and it came with a 1 year warranty. I bought it from Newegg.com I don’t have the box it came in or anything so I don’t think I can get any warranty coverage. After I type this up I’ll go check the manufacturer’s website to see if I can have any relief. If not I am asking for the power of you smart people to find a reasonable replacement for Chandra’s computer. Don’t wanna spend much more then 80 dollars but if there is a really good one for a few bucks more then that is fine. Any help is welcome. -K Well, I had an idea that I wanted to run buy the 5 of us that play together on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. I was thinking of doing a rotating schedule for which zones we wanna run. Each person would be responsible for finding out where their gear drops or where they wanna gain faction. When it is their night they tell us where to go. I guess we could do it alphabetically. I don’t know if anyone besides Scott reads this so, tell me what you think Scott, bur! -K I need to figure out someway to make a fourm post that says the samething: “Scott, I sent in my WIT. Did you get it?” Anyway, I wish everyone good luck in this year of the Rat. -K Do you need me to send it again Scott? Will this post be enough to get you to post it? Are you sore Popcorn posted a WIT in a post and you don’t consider it an official WIT? Do you hate cute little kittens? What exactly do you have againts Norway? Will any of my sentences end without a question mark? Not likely. Damn! -K |
