I’ve been working on the railroad….
Posted by: Bluexiii in Amazing Stuff, General CrossfiringThe impossible has happened. I got a job outside the business. This afternoon, I was officially hired by Burlington-Northern-Santa Fe Railroad, starting on April 15. I’m not working on the trains…yet…perhaps down the road I will. But for now, it’s a start. Will I miss the business? I don’t know…it’s hard to say after doing this for over 11 years. I’ll miss the people I work (and have worked) with. I won’t miss the smokey enviornment, hustling for tokes or the rude people. I’m looking forward to the challenge though. So after dinner…it’s off to the printer to do what I thought I’d never do, give notice to get out of the business. I wish nothing but success to all y’all and I will be by.

Well at least you’ll make a good bit more! So what are you gonna be doing there starting out?
I always figured you would get a more full time-ish referee gig. Well grats!

Congratulations on severing yourself from the casino teet! I could only tolerate it for 7 years before I had to get out, so I can completely understand. By any chance will you be working with a trainer named Ryan Johnson?

Thanks guys. Scott, I have thought about going to one of the MLB umpire camps….too expensive and time consuming. As for who my trainer (pun?), I don’t know. There’s so much stuff I know I’ll have to go through…but, we’ll see what happens.

There was a man who entered a local paper’s pun contest. He sent in ten different puns, in the hope that at least one of the puns would win. Unfortunately, no pun in ten did.
